Low on loud, predictable jump scares, high on creativity, tension and dread, dark humor, The Maiden is a short horror film that tells the story of an incredibly tenacious, not entirely scrupulous real estate agent and the extremely haunted house she is trying to sell. On a haunting scale of 1 to “Get Outta There,” this place rates at “Oh You Walked Through the Door? Well Then You’re Probably Dead Already.”
Like many short horror movies (and, unfortunately, some feature length horror movies as well) the story feels a bit incomplete come the ending, but this is still a well-performed, well-orchestrated film that should hopefully earn its director, Michael Chaves, some deserved attention.
