ALL EYEZ ON ME Tupac Biopic Teaser Trailer

Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way… Demetrius Shipp Jr., the actor playing Tupac Shakur in All Eyez on Me, the biopic named after the rapper’s biggest album, looks just like Pac in this teaser. This dude would beat Tupac in a Tupac look-alike contest, Charlie Chaplin style. Holy shit. This isn’t going to do anything to help dispel all of those crazy “Pac is alive” conspiracy theories; not only is he alive, but he’s in amazing shape for being forty-five. Either he actually filmed his scenes a real long time ago, or he’s on that Captain America super-soldier serum.

As for the content of the teaser trailer itself, it leans heavily on a voice-over from Afeni Shakur, warning her son that he will be provided the tools of his own self-destruction. This is underscored by shots of sex, drugs, alcohol, guns and fame, all thing that contributed to Tupacs trials and his eventual murder.

For a one-minute trailer, it packs in a fair bit of imagery. While the early shot of fans chanting his name may make this seem like it might be an oversimplified hagiography, what comes after gives me a lot more confidence that this will be an appropriately complex depiction of a complicated personage.
