James McAvoy to Play “Wheels” in X-Men Prequel
James McAvoy has signed to play Professor Xavier in the Matthew Vaughn directed X-Men prequel, X-Men: First Class aka X-Men: The College Years.
According to Fox, “First Class” will “chart the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were the closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men
I understand that Professor X and Magneto are very powerful mutants, but I can’t see myself getting all hype about watching one superhero using mind control to make bad guys just walk away, and another controlling metal to snatch guns out of their hands. Is this even fair? The movie would be over in like 10 minutes. And I’d be out the theater in 15 minutes only because I’d have to stay after the credits to see a Rebecca Romijn cameo.
